EVERETT, Wash. — Walmart is investigating after a woman says she was pricked by a needle, and now fears she's been infected with diseases.

Last week, Kenzie Erickson says she was shopping for make-up when she reached into a shopping basket and felt a prick at a Walmart in Everett.

"I was bleeding really bad, I was upset, crying,” said Erickson.

“It went all the way in my thumb."

She filed a complaint with Walmart, but then came the doctor’s visits.

"The doctors told me that this could be really serious,” said Erickson.

She’s been prescribed two medications, so far.

"I could catch HIV, Hepatitis C. I mean, anything that anybody has,” said Erickson.

Erickson says she's tested negative for HIV, but doctors say she could get it in the future.

"Just the fact that someone would leave it there in the first place. That's pretty ridiculous,” said Erickson.

A Walmart representative sent an email statement that reads, “We are looking into this situation closely including reviewing surveillance of this area. Thus far, we have not been able to determine how or if a foreign object was placed on our shelf, but we’re continuing to investigate.”
