Washington celebrates 125 years of statehood

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington State is celebrating its 125th birthday Tuesday.

There will be a party at the Capitol in Olympia starting at 1 p.m.

Lawmakers will recreate the telegram delivery that announced Washington was officially a state in 1889.

The original state constitution will be on display as well as a new exhibit in honor of 125 years of statehood.
