TACOMA, Wash. — A teenager is dead after an apparent argument erupts into a gun battle in a usually quiet Tacoma neighborhood.
The Pierce County medical examiner's office identified the dead teenager as Dylan Oman, 18, a former student at Tacoma's Stadium High School.
Sources close to the investigation told KIRO 7 that Oman was shot to death in what appears to be a shootout at Brown's Point Boulevard and 38th Avenue northeast around 3 a.m. Monday.
The parking lot of an apartment complex where the shooting took place was littered with shell casings. A small SUV parked in the corner has several bullet holes in a rear door.
"You could never imagine this here," said a woman who asked that her name not be published. She said she and her husband could hear gunfire from their home nearby, then people talking.
"I could hear people saying, 'Oh god, oh god. Get up! Get up!' Then they were saying, 'We need to move the body.'"
Law enforcement sources said several people are being questioned Monday in connection with the shooting. No arrests had been made.
The investigation into the incident is still underway as of Jan. 11.
