In a widely viewed video, a school resource officer at Liberty High School slams the student to the concrete sidewalk before placing her in handcuffs, WFTV reported.

The officer has not been named. It is unclear if he has been placed on leave, suspended or reassigned.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said the officer was trying to stop the student from fighting another student between classes. Investigators are collecting video, witness statements and other relevant information to determine what happened.

The school district deferred comment to the sheriff’s office, saying they do not hire school resource officers.

The sheriff’s office plans to comment on the incident at a Wednesday news conference, WFTV reported.
