BLANCHESTER, Ohio — A registered sex offender is facing a rape charge after police said he sexually assaulted an infant in Ohio.
According to WLWT, authorities issued an arrest warrant for 29-year-old Steven Broughton, of Blanchester, after a woman told officers Sunday that he had raped her 8-month-old son and fled.
Doctors at a nearby hospital examined the child that night, while detectives began investigating the case and looking for Broughton, who is listed on Ohio’s sex offender registry for a previous offense, the news outlet reported.
Investigators later discovered that Broughton was in a Clermont County hospital following a car wreck and is under psychiatric evaluation, WKRC reported. Police plan to take him into custody after doctors release him from the hospital, according to WLWT.
