In a news release posted to its Facebook page, the Myrtle Beach Police Department announced charges had been filed against Keal Latrell Brown for contributing to the delinquency of a minor in connection with the weekend shooting, and said more charges could be filed.

The shooting at the Hollywood Wax Museum’s haunted house Saturday sent the victim to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder, WBTW reported.

Myrtle Beach police said Brown was with other people, when the victim, who was working as a performer in the haunted house, scared several members of the group. When one person in the group fell, a gun slid back and hit Brown in the foot. Investigators said that Brown told them that “he believed the gun was a prop and part of the experience when he picked it up and fired twice, striking the victim one time in the shoulder.”

Police said investigators talked to Brown, along with the victim and witnesses, and also watched surveillance video of the incident, WBTW reported.

Brown was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, because police said he knowingly gave the gun he used in the shooting to a minor after the incident.

Brown was arrested in the Charleston area after he was identified hours after the shooting, WBTW reported.
