WAXAHACHIE, Texas — A newborn baby, perhaps only a few hours old, was found in bushes outside a Texas apartment complex early Thursday, authorities said.
The child was found wrapped in a shirt and discovered at 8:36 a.m. CDT at Bent Tree Town Homes in Waxahachie, WFAA-TV reported.
According to a news release, the Waxahachie Police Department said the juvenile mother of the infant has been identified, and an investigation is ongoing. According to WFAA, the child’s mother is 16 years old.
The baby was taken to an area hospital and is in good condition, KXAS-TV reported.
Police said that no charges have been filed yet, and the infant is in the custody of Child Protective Services.
