Kansas mom charged with manslaughter, DUI in crash that killed 5-year-old daughter

WICHITA, Kan. — A Kansas woman is facing multiple charges related to an early-morning crash on Sunday that killed her 5-year-old daughter.

Nory Lam, 26, was arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter, driving under the influence and transporting an open container of an alcoholic beverage in the rollover crash that killed 5-year-old Aleah Reyes, KWCH reported.

A sheriff’s deputy at the crash scene confirmed to KWCH that the driver, since identified as Lam, left the roadway and struck a concrete culvert.

According to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, the single-vehicle crash occurred at around 3:15 a.m. in a rural area of southeast Wichita, KSN-TV reported.

Reyes was pronounced dead at the scene, while Lam suffered only minor injuries and refused medical treatment, the TV station reported.
