CENTERVILLE, Iowa — Two Iowa girls are being hailed as heroes after they helped save the life of a toddler, authorities said.

According to WOI, the rescue occurred Thursday when a 1-year-old stopped breathing in Centerville. But thanks to the actions of two girls, the child was breathing by the time Centerville police and firefighters arrived, the Centerville Fire Department said in a Facebook post.

The toddler, who is doing well, was taken to a nearby hospital and later released, authorities said.
