Nearly six inches of rain have fallen since Friday, flooding highways and stressing the stormwater system throughout the city, WJBK reported.

“Damaging wind gusts to 60 mph will be the primary threat with these storms,” weather officials said. “Secondary threats include an isolated tornado or two and large hail.”

The National Weather Service issued a flood watch through Saturday night. “Torrential rainfall” is expected to continue Sunday.

Freeways throughout Wayne County had flooding issues, Michigan State Police said. Those where the water receded were “littered with abandoned vehicles,” troopers said.

Chuck Duquet, of Bloomfield Hills, told WDIV his backyard was filled with water.

“In 22 years, I’ve never seen it run this high,” he said.
