CYRIL, Okla. — A high school sophomore is recovering after a goal post fell on her head.
Jenessa Thompson, who goes to Cyril High School in Cyril, Oklahoma, was injured when the goal post fell while the squad and coaches were taking photos. At least two girls were on the goal post at the time of the collapse, The Lawton Constitution reported.
Thompson was on the ground next to a coach, KFOR reported.
School district officials have not said what caused the structure to fall.
Thompson suffered a broken jaw and had severe head injuries. She was rushed to an area emergency room and then transferred to the intensive care unit at Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City, The Lawton Constitution reported.
She is expected to make a full recovery.
One of the coaches was also injured in the collapse, according to the newspaper.
