6 people shot at protest turned party in Florida, investigators say

WILLISTON, Fla. — At least six people were shot early Saturday morning in Florida after a protest that became a block party ended with violence, investigators said.

Levy County sheriff’s deputies arrived to a chaotic scene at around 3 a.m., WCJB reported.

Witnesses told investigators that a fight started just before the shooting. The six victims either drove themselves or were taken to hospitals. The victims’ conditions have not been released. Investigators believe there could be more victims.

There are no suspects, and no one has been taken into custody.

“Detectives believe multiple cell phone videos may exist of the shooting,” investigators said in a news release. “And videos could contain images of the person(s) responsible for the shooting.”

The protest and party “Next Generation All Gas” was organized to bring attention to inequities in policing, WCJB reported.
