6 people injured after truck runs over cyclists

SHOW LOW, Ariz. — A truck plowed through a group of cyclists Saturday morning critically injuring six people, investigators said.

Show Low police said a black Ford pickup truck ran over multiple cyclists who were participating in the Bike the Bluff road race in front of an automotive collision repair shop, KSAZ reported.

The driver, who has not been identified, fled the scene. Police chased and shot him behind an Ace Hardware store. He was taken to a hospital where he is in critical but stable condition.

Police said six people were taken by ambulance to the hospital. Four of the victims are in critical condition and the other two are critically injured but stable. Police said at least two other victims went to the hospital on their own. They were in stable condition.

Police have not indicated why lethal force was used in capturing him.
