3 killed in West Virginia plane crash

LANSING, W. Va. — All three men aboard a small plane died when it crashed Sunday morning in Lansing, West Virginia.

Responding officers found the wreckage behind a barn on Opossum Creek Road, WTRF reported.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating what caused the single-engine Beechcraft C23 to go down just after 10 a.m, The Register-Herald in Beckley, West Virginia, reported.

According to the West Virginia State Police, 38-year-old Nick Fletcher, 36-year-old Michael Taphouse and 39-year-old Wesley Farley were found dead inside the plane, the TV station reported.

FAA Public Affairs Specialist Maria Njoku said Sunday that the plane had departed from Fayette Airport in Fayetteville, the newspaper reported.
