2-year-old shot in South Carolina, deputies say

DILLON, S.C. — A toddler is recovering after being shot Sunday evening in South Carolina, according to multiple reports.

The incident occurred about 5 p.m. on Devon Drive near Dillon, a city near the North Carolina border, according to WMBF. Emergency crews responded to the scene and rushed the 2-year-old victim to a nearby hospital, the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office said.

The child’s identity and condition were not immediately released. However, family members told WPDE the toddler was expected to recover. They also said the shooting was accidental, according to WPDE.

Deputies continue to investigate the events leading up to the shooting, WMBF reported.
