Police officer sings heartfelt 'Amazing Grace' to honor fallen comrade

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Tears were falling at the memorial service for Detective Brad Lancaster, but one voice rose above the sadness.

Officer Danon Vaughn performed an emotional rendition of “Amazing Grace” in front of fellow officers and family members.

Curtis Ayers was arrested and charged with capital murder in Lancaster’s death.

At one point during his performance, he was overcome with emotion and two fellow officers stood by his side offering support until he was ready to continue.

KCTV reports that Lancaster, 39, was killed Monday when he was shot while responding to a call.

Lancaster was an Air Force veteran and leaves behind a wife and two daughters.
