TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma's Fourth of July Freedom Fair may not have much of an air show this year.
Organizers for the annual waterfront festival say sponsors for the planes haven't shown up, and unless $15,000 is raised in the next 11 days, most of the planes will stay grounded.
According to the News Tribune, the annual July 4 show brings out as many as 200,000 people to the Tacoma waterfront.
No military planes are flying this year. Two to three years ago, they made up more than half the show.
The two-hour air show costs $25,000 to put on. Currently, only about $9,000 is available in sponsorship funds.
The man responsible for the air show started a GoFundMe account to be able to hire another performer, but he currently has only raised $100 so far.
