LAKEWOOD, Wash. — A freeway sign collapsed on southbound Interstate 5 on Tuesday morning, according to West Pierce Fire & Rescue.
The sign is located on southbound Interstate 5 at Gravelly Lake Drive in Lakewood and came down just after midnight.
The signs and supports spanned all lanes, collapsing across the freeway.
A spokesperson for West Pierce said a car appeared to hit the support, bringing down the sign.
Crews worked to remove the structure, and were able to maneuver it to the side of the road just before 6 a.m.
One person is being evaluated for their injuries.
All southbound lanes were reopened at 6 a.m.
