A 14-year-old jumped into action, put out a brush fire and potentially saved a nearby home.
Firefighters in Mason County are calling Connor Harris a hero.
"I have faith in what happened, and I'm just really happy I got to help out with that,” said Connor.
Being a firefighter is Connor's dream, but it wasn't always that way.

"About a year ago, I snapped because I was being bullied quite a bit. I just started getting in trouble with the law a little bit,” he said. "I just didn't want to do that bad stuff anymore because it didn't get me anywhere. It just got me in trouble."
On Saturday, Connor was in the right place at the right time. He was riding his bike down Third Street in Shelton when he passed a man who needed help.
Firefighters said a bird's nest caused a transformer to explode, setting brush below it on fire right by a home. Connor spotted the flames, stopped and sprang into action.
"It could've spread to the house and caught the house on fire,” he said.
Firefighters got to the scene minutes later and were stunned.
“I thought it was pretty cool, actually. It was impressive. He was going to work. He actually used his backpack initially to try to beat out the flames, and then he grabbed the hose, so he was doing an excellent job,” said Eric Moore, Central Mason Fire firefighter.
Firefighters said Connor likely saved the home.
They gave him a Central Mason Fire patch and a ride home in the firetruck.
The 14-year-old quickly became the talk of the town.
"You can't get any prouder than this,” said Michelle Scott, Connor’s mother.
Scott said her son's outlook on life has completely changed.
"When this happened on Saturday, he realized that he really does matter. No more of the talk of, he doesn't matter and he's worthless. Now he has a purpose. Now he has a goal. Now there's hope in his eyes,” said Scott.
Connor's courage to put out the fire not only saved someone's home, it transformed his own life.
"I used to tell myself, 'Oh, life sucks,' and it was only because I made it that way, but when you go and do something nice for a change, it changes a lot, and it makes you want to do that and more of the good stuff and less of the bad stuff,” said Connor.
