ISSAQUAH, Wash. — He escaped Wednesday morning from his home in a biology classroom at Issaquah High School.

A pet ball python named "Hamilton" is missing. Assistant Principal Derek Heinz said, "What we believe happened is that he got big enough and strong enough to push the top off of the aquarium."

Students did not panic. They know the two-and-a-half-foot long snake doesn't bite and he isn't poisonous. But some admit to being a little leery about what may be slithering inside the building.

Student Kyra Robinson said, "If I see it, I'm probably going to tell a teacher about it, because I don't want that thing to get around anywhere."

The school staff and an animal control officer searched the school and found no trace of the reptile.

They even reviewed surveillance video taken inside the building to see if they could spot Hamilton. A small white mouse has been placed next to the snake's home in the hopes that it will lure Hamilton out of hiding.

So far, the reptile hasn't taken the bait.
