LACEY, Wash. — Police are searching for the man who pulled a gun on a Walmart security guard Friday after the suspect tried to steal a vacuum.
Police were able to identify the man as Jonathan Langford, who is still at large.
The getaway car has been located and impounded; his weapon has not been recovered. Langford is considered armed and dangerous.
Police ask that if you see him, you call 911 and refer to Lacey dispatch.
Langford had people running for the doors on one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
He was pulled into the security office for attempting to steal a Dyson vacuum Friday afternoon. That’s when he pulled out the handgun and ran from the store.
"He pulled the gun from his waistband, a small tussle ensued, and from there -- he fled the building,” said Detective Miguel Stansberry with the Lacey Police Department.
Customers saw Langford with that gun as he left the Walmart.
"We heard a lady come screaming, and then we saw a whole bunch of people coming toward the back of the store,” said Nathaniel Hemby, a shopper.
No shots were fired.
Lacey Police Department says Langford got into a car and drove out of the lot. Detectives are investigating the store.
"A few people were screaming, but we didn't know what was going on. I know my son was freaking out,” said shopper Akeem Bannis.
Police say Langford had help: there was a driver waiting for him in a Mitsubishi getaway car.
KIRO 7 checked with Lacey Police late Friday night and no one had been arrested in connection with the case.
