SILVERDALE, Wash. — After a sewage spill on Friday, the Kitsap Public Health District issued a no-contact advisory for surface waters along the Silverdale waterfront.
The district reported that the sewage leak in Old Town Silverdale was “significant.”
On Saturday, the district extended the no-contact advisory through Monday, Nov. 10.
This advisory includes the Silverdale Waterfront Park recreation area from the west end of the park near the boat ramp to the east end of the park. It also includes fresh and storm water drainage to the shoreline within the park and boat launch area.
According to the county, less than 1,000 gallons were spilled.
Warning signs are posted along the Silverdale waterfront.
The district advises avoidance of any contact with drainage and/or saltwater in areas impacted by the sewage spill.
