Seattle-Everett passenger train service disrupted due to mudslides

MUKILTEO, Wash. — The incident happened at 10:30 a.m.

Due to a 48-hour moratorium on passenger trains, imposed by the BNSF, there will be no evening Sounder and Amtrak service, officials said

Sounder service will resume Monday morning if there are no further slides. The slopes adjacent to the tracks remain stable.

Chopper 7 flew over Mukilteo, where a downed tree landed on a set of tracks.

Amtrak service will resume Saturday if there are no additional mudslides.

Officials said alternate transportation will be provided between Seattle, Edmonds, Everett and Vancouver, B.C.

Passengers who have paid but choose not to travel can receive a refund or a voucher for future travel.
