Seahawks 12s want to pay to keep Russell Wilson in Seattle

Some loyal 12 Fans have started a Go Fund Me page to keep Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson in Seattle.

Their goal? $5 million.

“I have a strategic plan to get Russell money outside of the salary cap and get this money to Russell Wilson,” creator Tim Pennoyer wrote on the page. “I will be exploring setting up an LLC to effectively ‘sponsor’ Russell Wilson in the same manner that Bose or Gillette do. In doing so the 12's will free up to $5M for the Sehawks to go out and get more talent.”

If Wilson refused the paycheck? Pennoyer said the money will be donated to Seattle Children’s Hospital, where Wilson goes most Tuesdays to visit sick kids.

As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, 51 people had donated – mostly $12 donations. One man, Scott Parker, even donated $475.

Wilson signed a four-year, $2.99-million contract in May 2012. More than three dozen quarterbacks are expected to make more than Wilson in 2015, according to data from OverTheCap.com. That includes Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and Green Bay’s Aaron Rogers.

Wilson missed team activities Tuesday to join teammate Jimmy Graham at the funeral of his manager in Miami.
