SEATTLE — The easy banter between Bessie Lee, and fellow Seahawks mothers, DeLisa Lynch and Beverly Sherman, seems to be borne of a years-long friendship.
"If we are lacking on something, an earring or something," said Lee, also known as, "Mama Irvin." "Here, girl, take mine. It's just one of those things."
"So true," chimed in Lynch, aka "Mama Lynch." "I got on one 'Mama (Earl) Thomas' gave me because I said 'Those are cute.'''
But the truth is they never met.
Then their sons, Bruce Irvin, Marshawn Lynch and Richard Sherman, joined the Seattle Seahawks and helped make magical history on the football field.
Their mothers' budding friendship is helping make this an enchanting time for them, too.
"You know, I've never heard of another team with the mothers bonding like we do," said Lynch. "That's why I say we're special all the way around."
Now they want to bring together other mothers, suddenly thrust, without a playbook, into the lucrative, yet sometimes harsh spotlight of the National Football League.
"Everybody thinks because our boys are in the limelight, how we should act," said Lee. "But half of us work. I like working. I like my own money. I like being independent. Because I don't ever want my son to think, 'Oh, Lord, my mama out there. I got to make payments for her.' That's his money."
They're already compiling their list of others they'd like to bring on board.
"Dez Bryant's mom, Angela," said Sherman. "Reggie Bush's, Denise. Tyrone Smith's mom, Frankie."
Eager to share with them this life only a special few get to live.
"We all connect so well," added Sherman.
"It's just a family and it's just wonderful," said Lee.
The Seahawk Mamas are also working to develop a television show featuring -- themselves.
