RushCard users denied access after glitch

Thousands of customers across the country who use RushCards are having problems after a glitch in its system.

A RushCard is a prepaid Visa debit or credit card that gives you quick access to your paycheck and helps users restore their credit.  Users can shop online, eat out, use ATM machines and pay bills with the card.

On Tuesday, RushCard had an upgrade in its system from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. ET.

After the upgrade, thousands of users experienced problems.

One user from Bremerton, Sherika Valentine, reached out to KIRO 7 and said after the upgrade, she now can’t access her money through an ATM machine and fears she's about to be evicted.

Valentine, a single mom of three children who lives in subsidized housing and supports her family on a nurse's salary is worried she can't pay rent now.

She gets her paycheck deposited on her RushCard, but on Tuesday, her card had a zero balance.

The Bremerton Housing Authority has served valentine with an eviction notice after she had asked for an extension.

Wednesday, night Russell Simmons, the rap icon and co-founder of RushCards, tweeted an apology video.

Thursday morning, RushCards tweeted they are making progress and their systems are coming back online.
