SEATTLE — About 100 protesters stormed the University of Washington Board of Regents dinner meeting Wednesday night.

They chanted things like “Reclaim UW!” and “Who’s University? Our University!”

The group seemed to have multiple messages demanding everything from lower tuition to better pay for university workers and interns.

At first the board members stood up and listened.  After about 10 minutes of chanting the regents sat back down and tried to ignore the crowd.  However, the board president quickly realized that would not be possible, and kept repeating the phrase: “The orderly conduct of this meeting is infeasible due to your interruption.”

When he was shouted down, a noticeable police presence formed between the board and the protesters.  Twenty-five minutes after the crowd pushed through the door of the UW Club, the board members slipped into a back room.  Only then did the protesters leave.

“I’d like to think that they heard us and that is why they left,” a protester said.  “I can’t speak to their motivations, but I like to think we made a difference and that we were heard in some form.”
