A man police say is a car thief they’d been seeking for months was arrested in Lynnwood this weekend.
On Saturday, police found Scott Geddis with stolen cars, a stolen gun and illegal drugs, according to charging documents.
"Guys like this, they're not just operating in Lynnwood. They're operating all over the region,” said Cmdr. Jim Nelson with Lynnwood police.
Lynnwood police say last Saturday afternoon, someone witnessed Geddis and an accomplice moving stolen goods from one stolen Mercedes to another stolen Mercedes in the Lynnwood Best Buy parking lot.
Police credit alert shoppers for seeing something suspicious and calling 911.
"Thanks to a couple of very alert citizens, we were able to capture these people before they committed more crimes,” said Nelson.
Police say Geddis ran from officers and tossed a loaded, stolen handgun under a car as he fled.
Geddis also was found with heroin and methamphetamine, and told police he uses about a gram each day, according to charging documents.
Back in September, KIRO 7 obtained surveillance footage that allegedly shows Geddis stealing a car from a Belltown parking garage.
Even then, Seattle police told us Geddis was a wanted man.
According to charging documents, Geddis has been convicted 23 times for felonies.
On Monday, the judge ordered him to remain behind bars in lieu of $50,000 bond.
"This was probably a way of life for them, committing criminal acts,” said Nelson.
