PULLMAN, Wash. — There is shock in the leafy Sammamish neighborhood where 58-year-old Cliff Luden lived for nearly 20 years with his family and ran his mortgage business.

Neighbors would not talk on camera, but they told KIRO 7 Luden left for Pullman yesterday.

Just a few hours later, he was dead.

According to Pullman police, just before 5 o'clock Saturday afternoon, they were called to Erik Luden's College Hill apartment for a domestic disturbance between a father and a son.

They arrived to find Cliff Luden on the floor, not moving.

He could not be revived.

It appeared he had suffered a head wound.

His son, Erik, suffered minor injuries and went to the hospital.

When he was released, he was booked for investigation of first degree murder.

Erik had been a student at Washington State University but was reportedly no longer enrolled.

Pullman police say they do not have a motive for the murder.

Erik Luden, who is being held in the Whitman County jail, is expected to make a first court appearance on Monday.
