SHELTON, Wash. — A Mason County deputy shot a man after an altercation in Shelton.
The deputy was responding to a disturbance call about 11 a.m. Thursday. They arrived to find an agitated young man running around, threatening to kill others and himself.
Officers followed him through the woods about 100 yards to another property in the 4600 block of Southeast Arcadia Road.
It was at that point that shots were fired and the man was shot in the hand by the deputy. He was taken into custody and transported to Mason General Hospital. Because of the severity of the injury, the man was later transported to Harborview in Seattle with non-life-threatening injuries.
Deputies believe the man was having mental or substance abuse issues.
