Last weekend, K-9 Ronin and his handler, Deputy Wallin, were called to a domestic violence incident in progress in the 3800 block of 215 Street Southeast in Bothell.
The sheriff’s office said Wallin drove to an area behind the home in case the suspect fled out the back, and as he turned down the street, he nearly hit the fleeing man. When Wallin ordered the man to stop, he ran away at a full sprint.
Ronin was deployed from his patrol car, but the man had already created some distance between them.
But police said once Ronin became locked on his target, he quickly gained ground.
The fleeing man then ran into a wooded area and tried to jump a six-foot fence leading into a yard.
Though the man had one leg over the fence and his second leg was about to go over, the dog latched onto the man before he got over the fence and took him to the ground.
A struggle ensued, but he was quickly arrested.
He was treated at the hospital for dog bite injuries and then booked into the Snohomish County Jail.
