Plane with 2 aboard crashes into Spokane River

SPOKANE, Wash. — Authorities say a plane has crashed into and sunk in the Spokane River in Spokane, Washington. KHQ­TV reports (http://is.gd/ghNFfs ) that Spokane International Airport's Todd Woodard says two people were on board. Firefighters rushed to the scene late Thursday afternoon. Authorities told The Spokesman­Review (http://is.gd/DQHLzN ) two people were pulled out of the river around 4:45 p.m. Their condition was not immediately known. KREM­TV reports (http://is.gd/jxRp6n ) the pilot radioed into the airport around 3:55 p.m. with engine trouble. Woodward says they were trying to make an emergency landing at Felts Field and didn't make it.
