AUBURN, Wash. — Barricades kept drivers off Peasley Canyon Road Thursday, as state and local police investigated a bloody crime scene.

A Homeland Security officer spotted a dark SUV parked along the road Wednesday afternoon with someone burning something just off the road.

“That person got into a car and took off,” said Auburn Police Commander Mike Hirman. The fire turned out to be pieces of flooring, clothing and a towel soaked in blood.

Hirman said there has been no report of a missing person in this area so far. “We don’t know who died, if they did. We don’t know who the victim is here,” he said.

Hirman said, “It’s just covered with blood, and so that leads us of course to believe that something happened whether it was a homicide or a serious assault.” The blood will go through a DNA analysis and be compared with data bases of known criminals.

KIRO 7 received a Facebook post from an eyewitness who was driving along Peasley Canyon Wednesday. She said the suspect was driving a dark green Chevy Suburban.

Her description of the suspect was similar to one released by the Auburn Police Department. He’s a possibly mixed race man, in his late 20s to early 30s.

He’s between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches, with a thin build with short brown hair.
