JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wa. — Officials at JBLM confirm the bear shot Tuesday morning looks like the bear that attacked a man last week in a training area of the base.
Officials shot and killed the 310-pound bear at about 10 a.m. Thursday. The mouth and a missing tooth match the bite marks on the head of the man attacked Thursday, according to authorities. The bear was shot and killed 100 yards from where the attack happened.
Base officials reported a civilian employee was walking around Engineer Bluff on the Lewis Main training area Thursday afternoon when the animal attacked him.
The man was taken to the hospital Thursday with non-life-threatening injuries.
