MARYSVILLE, Wash. — Marysville police detectives are investigating an early morning shooting.

The shooting occurred in the 7600 block of 80th Avenue East Thursday in the Whiskey Ridge development just before 4 a.m.

A 33-year-old man was shot outside his home as he was getting into his car. He was alone in his home at the time of the shooting.

The victim was transported to the hospital in serious condition.

“While we have not yet identified a suspect, we do not at this time believe this to be a random incident and believe residents in the area are not in any immediate danger,” said Marysville police Commander Robb Lamoureux.

Officers have been searching the area but do not have a good description of the shooter.

A small fire was burning in bushes in the vicinity of the shooting. It is being investigated as possibly being related to the shooting.
