LYNNWOOD, Wash. — If you think rent is rising in Seattle, you're right. But rent rates are rising even more in outlying cities.

Lynnwood saw the biggest increase year over year.

According to the Puget Sound Business Journal, in the last year, rents rose 10.6 percent in Lynnwood.

Besides Lynnwood, rents rose 9.1 percent in Renton, Seattle, 8.4 percent, Auburn 7.3 and Tacoma 6.8 percent.

We mapped out the top five cities with the highest rent increases by percentage in the last year.

The Puget Sound Business Journal reports that the cities around Seattle are seeing such rent increases because people are getting priced out of Seattle.

Of all the markets mentioned, Tacoma is the cheapest. The median two bedroom apartment there is just over $1,000 per month compared to the median price in Seattle of $2,300.
