2 hospitalized after pickup truck crashes into tree in Marysville

MARYSVILLE, Wash. — Two people were hospitalized Tuesday evening after a crash in Marysville.

Deputies responded to a report of a crash on 140th Street Northwest near Lake Drive after 7 p.m.

Investigators said a pickup truck left the roadway and struck a tree head-on.

A 64-year-old woman was extricated from the passenger seat and taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver, a 69-year-old man, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said detectives are still investigating the cause of the crash but they believe speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors.

The roadway was closed for several hours for the investigation.
