The driver of a car that struck a girl on a bicycle in a crosswalk fled the scene in Marysville Monday night.
Police said the incident occurred just after 7 p.m. when the 10-year-old on a bike was with family members walking north on 67th Avenue and crossing 64th at SR 528 at a lighted and traffic controlled intersection when a car made a left turn into the intersection and hit the girl in the crosswalk.
The girl, who was wearing a helmet, was knocked off her bike and received some minor abrasions and bruising to her face and right leg.
The driver then left the scene and the girl was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
A witness was able to follow the car and get a description of it and the license plate number.
The car, a gold 2002 Mercury Sable, was registered to a Redmond address. Redmond officers checked the address but did not locate the car.
The owner of the property in Redmond called and told Marysville officers that the owner of the car had been renting the home but had recently been evicted. He did not know the location of the renter.
Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the car driven in the hit and run. Anyone who spots the car is asked to call 911 and not try to interact with anyone driving the vehicle.
