MARYSVILLE, Wash. — Flames tore through a Marysville house Monday night. The fire started in the garage of the home at the corner of 51st Ave NE & 74th Place NE and quickly devoured two cars. The garage was full of shop tools and a few propane tanks. Neighbors not only saw the fire, they heard it too.

"I hear this big ole boom. All of a sudden, I look up and I see the flames barreling over the house and it was all black smoke," said Sharie Hamachar, who lives behind the house.

Linda Andrews lives across the street. "It was crackling at first then all of a sudden big old boom and another boom and boom. I don't know what he had in that garage," said Andrews.

Firefighters were told about the propane tanks so they took extra precautions. Neighbors went door-to-door making sure everyone was out. The people who live in the house escaped outside with their four dogs.  The houses aren't very far apart. Some neighbors were worried the fire could spread so they moved their cars out of the way.

Fire crews used foam to smother the flames. The fire marshal worked late Monday night to determine the cause. It should be released by Marysville fire on Tuesday.

The family who lives in the home was helped by the Red Cross. They told neighbors they do have insurance.
