SEATTLE — Marshawn Lynch spoke with the media on a recent trip to Turkey.
He appeared on NTV Spor, a popular sports network in the country.
Lynch spoke about the fateful near-end of game play -- during Super Bowl XLIX. The interviewer joked with Lynch, after the topic was brought up.
“If I don’t ask this, I will get fined,” says the interviewer, laughing.
"To be honest with you, I would be a liar if I didn't tell you that I was expecting the ball. Yes, I was expecting the ball. But you know after it didn’t happen -- like I told a reporter after the game, it's a team sport," says Lynch. "I had no problem with the decision of the playcalling."
"I don't know what went into that call,” continues Lynch. “I mean, maybe it was a good thing that I didn't get the ball. I mean, you know, it cost us the Super Bowl. I mean, I have full ... I have full confidence in my teammates to execute that plan because we've done it so many more times. But would I love to had the ball in? Yes, I would have.”
"But the game is over. I’m in Turkey," says Lynch, inspiring more laughter.
Lynch is notoriously uninterested in speaking with media -- so when he does, people pay attention. In January, he explained his preferred silence.
"I don't know what image y'all trying to portray of me but ... It don't matter what y'all think, what y'all say about me became when I go home at night, the same people that I look in the face -- my family -- that I love ... that's all that matters to me," he said.
