MONROE, Wash. — A Monroe man who was trusted to baby-sit his friend's daughter is accused of using the 4-year-old to make porn videos.
We first told you about Terry Farr last month, when he was arrested for watching child porn at the Monroe Library.
Detectives identified the girl in one of those videos and worry she may not be his only victim.
The 51-year-old Farr was in jail Thursday while some longtime friends were in court listening to prosecutors accuse Farr of molesting their 4-year-old daughter.
"They trusted Mr. Farr with her care while he watched her a handful of times. They are frightened for her continued well-being, for her safety," said prosecutor Toni Montgomery.
According to court papers, Farr videotaped himself holding the girl while he performed sex acts on himself.
Her father told us Farr was a longtime family friend who was renting a room in their home.
"I am angry. I'm also very sad," said a neighbor who lives next door and asked us not to use her name, because she too was molested by an adult when she was a child.
"It's so prevalent. We turn on the news every day and what do we hear?" she said.
She's right.
Last week, an Everett man was arrested for downloading child porn, accused of "grooming" his neighbor's 5-year-old daughter to possibly abuse in the future.
We asked Snohomish County Attorney Mark Roe, "Are we seeing an increase in these kinds of crimes or are we just more aware?"
"I don't believe that there are more bad people out there, but we sure have a lot more computers and a lot more laptops and tablets," said Roe.
Officers say Farr tried to delete the videos. They're concerned about what else he may have tried to destroy.
"I'm concerned not only for the safety of the children of our community, given what law enforcement have found so far" said Montgomery.
The victim's father says she was checked out at a local hospital and is OK.
There is no sign Farr assaulted her brother, but he will be checked out too.
