SEATTLE — The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is investigating after a video of a car driving across the floating bridge on the I-90 Trail went viral.
The video, posted Thursday on Reddit, shows the car driving fast and passing traffic on the trail, which is not open to vehicle traffic.
Bicyclists and pedestrians commonly use the trail, and the car is seen squeezing between the railings. Another video was posted on Instagram.
WSDOT aware of I-90 Trail incident, says findings could lead to ‘mitigations’
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) told MyNorthwest it is aware of the incident and that WSP is leading the investigation.
“WSDOT is aware of this incident and some of the videos that have been posted online,” the agency stated in an email. “Safety is always our top priority.”
WSDOT said it has been in touch with WSP and looks forward to learning what the investigation finds.
“The findings will play an important role in helping us understand any mitigations we might consider,” the agency stated.
