Woman killed in Spanaway mobile home fire

SPANAWAY, Wash. — A 68-year-old woman was killed in a mobile home fire in Spanaway overnight, the sheriff’s office confirmed Thursday morning.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to a fully engulfed house fire in Spanaway at around 1 a.m. on August 6.

“When deputies arrived, several other people were evacuated,” the sheriff’s office reported. “It was learned a 68-year-old female did not make it out of the house.”

According to Central Pierce Fire and Rescue, one person was taken to a local hospital for evaluation after suffering smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Pierce County Fire Marshal’s Office.
