Air quality is still in the moderate to “unhealthy for sensitive groups” range in much of Puget Sound this evening but we will have slowly improving air west of the Cascades soon.
The marine layer of air off the Pacific Ocean with fresher air, more humidity, and some cloud cover will surge inland to Western Washington into Saturday morning.
It could be cloudy in lowland spots to start Saturday, but skies will become mainly sunny later in the morning and into the afternoon.
Highs will be in the 70s to low 80s with moderate air quality in many spots.
A Red Flag Warning is out east of the Cascades Saturday as low humidity and gusty westerly winds develop by afternoon. Fire spread is likely and new fire starts could become problematic quickly.
Also, air quality will be poor downwind from fires like around Chelan and Entiat.
Expect more of the same statewide Sunday into early next week with a few morning clouds in Western Washington, turning to sunshine except possibly right at the beaches each day. Highs will be in the 70s to around 80 in Seattle.
The long-range forecast for late next week is a bit uncertain, but starting around Thursday, we could start seeing some wildfire smoke moving in aloft over Western Washington, though surface air quality issues are uncertain as well.
