Nearly 1,200 Weyerhaeuser workers in Washington and Oregon decided to strike on Monday after rejecting a contract offer.
After last talking to Weyerhaeuser on Monday, the decision was made to strike at midnight.
Sawmills, loggers and truck drivers are all represented and are looking for better wages, health care and retirement.
The last Weyerhaeuser strike was in 1986.
Talks are likely to begin again Friday.
