Happy Monday! We’ve reached a subtle turning point in our summer weather. Seattle’s average high dropped from 79° yesterday to 78° today, as our normal temperatures begin their slow seasonal decline. Don’t worry, summer certainly isn’t over, but from here on out our average daily high will gradually trend lower as we head toward fall.
The actual weather this week will look a lot like classic August in Western Washington, with morning clouds giving way to afternoon sunshine. Low clouds are more widespread this morning compared to yesterday, so they’ll take a little longer to clear. Look for cloudy to mostly cloudy skies early, becoming partly to mostly cloudy around midday before plenty of sunshine takes over this afternoon. Highs will reach the upper-70s, right around average for this time of year.
We’ll keep this pattern going for the next few days, with low clouds varying a bit each day, but generally with afternoon clearing. On Wednesday, there will be a weak wave that could produce some showers or isolated t-storms in the North Cascades and potentially east of the Cascades.
Temps will drop a few degrees Wednesday and then warm into the weekend with more sunshine, temps in the 80s, and no rain in sight.
