WEATHER: Expect rain showers tomorrow, frost not far off

Enjoy today — because the weather is about to change pretty dramatically.

We’ll start with another cool morning and increasing fog, with some pockets of dense fog. The fog and low clouds should break up a little earlier today, giving us partly sunny skies and a mild afternoon with highs in the upper-60s and lower-70s. This is the last mild day for a while, so soak it up.

Friday brings a pretty big pattern change as a stout trough of low pressure drops into the Northwest. That will send colder air our way and bring increasing rain chances. Highs will be in the 60s Friday, but we could struggle to even reach 60 on Saturday.

Showers will move in from the northwest Friday morning, and it’ll turn a bit blustery through the day. The front will push most of the steady precipitation into the mountains by Friday afternoon, but scattered showers will linger into Saturday.

Snow levels could drop below 5,000 feet Friday night and Saturday, so we could see some flakes flying around places like Paradise. The lower passes should stay mainly rain.

It’ll remain cool but turn drier Sunday into early next week, with highs only in the low 60s around Seattle. Overnight lows could be in the 30s and 40s, which means there may be a few frosty spots!
