SEATTLE — As evacuations continue in Afghanistan, many people are wondering what they can do to help.
The owner of Wallingford restaurant Kabul, who’s from Afghanistan, has found a way to empower its customers.
Over the next two months, 10% of all the restaurant’s sales will be donated to the Afghan Health Initiative.
Dee Frankfourth, who was ordering takeout at Kabul, said she’s heartbroken for those who once called Afghanistan home and for those who are still there.
“I think that’s terrific, and it will only make me come here even more often. Today is just a part of all of the world events we’re caught up in, and the least I can do is help (Kabul’s owner) to be here and help us remember,” Frankfourth said.
The Afghan Health Initiative is a King County-based nonprofit dedicated to helping Afghan refugees. The organization has started an emergency fund for refugees to cover housing, utilities, food, clothes, household goods and more.
The group is also asking for volunteers to help with apartment setups, airport pickups, meals, temporary housing and more.
