SEATTLE — New video that KIRO 7 received shows the moment 26 power poles began to collapse in Tukwila on April 5.

The video shows some of the poles leaning and then began to fall over along East Marginal Way, with one falling on a car and trapping a couple inside. The couple was injured.

As the poles started falling, the cameras lost power.

"The poles in that area were all inspected in 2016," City Light CEO and General Manager Debra Smith said. "So, we have good data about the inspection process and the treatment that was applied to many them. We're looking at loading."

More than 16,000 customers lost power in Tukwila, South Seattle, White Center and Burien.

Seattle City Light hired an outside contractor to do an investigation into why the poles fell.
