SEATTLE — On Tuesday, the University of Washington tennis team got a visit from a tennis legend.

Venus Williams was out practicing and hitting with the UW tennis team members.

Williams is in town as a special guest speaker at Amazon Accelerate, which is holding its third annual seller conference starting Wednesday.

Word got around fast about Williams holding court this afternoon and that drew a huge crowd of onlookers anxious to get a look at the sport’s great.

“A friend texted me on social media and told me to run right away because Venus Williams is here. So, as a tennis fan, I got off from the library and came straight away to see Venus play,” UW student and tennis fan Emmanuel Mordi said.

“To see her on the courts I play on is crazy,” another student said.

Williams was just at the U.S. Open earlier this month where she played singles and doubles with her sister Serena.
